Week of November 19-23rd

Hi, Everyone:
Welcome to the English 9 assignment schedule blog. Here, I'll be posting assignments, learning intentions for our units, and other related commentary. Please feel free to comment or ask for help, and I'll respond to you as quickly as possible.
We're currently reading "The Pigman" chapters 6-8. One of our learning intentions is to discuss theme and symbolism in the novel, and one of the skills we're working on is the character sketch.
At this point, you're to have notes on John, Lorraine, and Mr. Pignati. You can use any method you like: sticky notes with comments and page #'s, or writing your notes directly onto the "psychologist's notes"provided. Remember your inference skills! These will be crucial to your character sketch. How are your notes coming?
As part of the novel, we've been discussing ideas using wikispace. This format allows everyone to participate.
Upcoming: character sketch in-class write this Friday, November 30th in the morning.

I think this is great; are the students into it? I was teaching ESL until recently and I would like to advise secondary ESL teachers on using blogs with their students. I think most of the feedback might end up coming from the teacher. Any ideas about how to get more feedback from other students? Maybe that is going to happen when they become more confident in English. Betty K
